7 Hacks to Avoid While Cleaning Your Home

Cleaning is a never-ending job. To keep things clean, we often try to follow some hacks, which make the task easier and efficient. However, not all hacks work and some of these can actually work opposite causing more harm than good. Here are a few hacks to avoid while cleaning your home.
Vinegar Is Not an Absolute Cleaner
Though vinegar is definitely a cleaning marvel, there are things that you shouldn’t clean using vinegar. If you have waxed furniture, better use the conventional method of cleaning it or use a vacuum cleaner for home. Never try using vinegar to scrub off the dirt on it as it will strip the wax off from furniture, making it look dull.
Don’t Use Short, Quick, Back-and-Forth Motions While Using Vacuum Cleaner
If you are using a vacuum cleaner for home for cleaning the floors and carpets, you are often told to use short, quick, back-and-forth motions. This is not the right way. For perfect cleaning, you should vacuum in rows moving in one direction – either vertically or horizontally. Once you reach the end, come back on the same strip, which will help in picking up any dirt that was missed in the first swipe. Once you are done cleaning the entire floor or room this way with your vacuum cleaner for home, move in horizontal rows in a similar manner. It takes a little extra time and effort, but cleaning is perfect.
Not All Whites Can Be Bleached
Do not soak all your whites in bleach to make them look whiter. Check the label on the garment or bedsheet and if it displays a triangle with an X over it then it means that it is not to be bleached.
Avoid Mixing Two Cleaners
If you are thinking of mixing two cleaners to turn it into a super cleaner, stop your thoughts at that. Vinegar and bleach are not supposed to be mixed together. If mixed, they release chlorine gas, which is toxic in nature and can make you sick, especially if you are working in a closed environment.
Coconut Oil Doesn’t Remove Stains
These days, there are many online videos that claim that using coconut oil will help to get the stains out of your furniture. Oil, in fact, stains the fabric and does not get the stain out of it. So, refrain from using this hack to make your sofa upholstery stain-free.
Don’t Use Nail Paint to Remove Fingernail Polish
You are getting into a bigger mess if you are attempting to do so. The hack will give you a bigger headache if you try to remove the nail paint that you dropped accidentally on the floor using more of it.
Don’t Use Hydrogen Peroxide Undiluted
Hydrogen Peroxide is, indeed, a good cleaning solution, but in a diluted form. If you try to use it directly on the stains on your carpet, you will end up bleaching the spot rather than removing the stains.
There are many hacks that make things easier but definitely not the above-discussed ones. Avoid these while cleaning your home so that you stay away from the hassles associated with it.
